Ascended Genetics is very grateful to be the first in the country to try High Intensity Plasma lighting from ELUXTRA in a dispensary grow of medical grade cannabis. These 1300W High Intensity Plasma (HIP) lamps have a 10X10 footprint of full spectrum light, that has a PAR spectrum that is closer to the sun than any other light ever invented by man. One 1300W HIP lamp replaced FOUR Metal Halide lamps in our veg & another HIP replaced FOUR 1000W DE HPS lamps in our flower room with a 30-60% increase in yields, depending on strain, plus a noticeable increase in flavor, aroma & potency as well. I did put our HIP lights on light movers, because I noticed that the intense light created an intense shadow effect and the outer plants in that 10×10 were being affected, but as soon as I put them on a light mover, that moved about a total of 3’, the whole 10×10 area had even growth.
Even though they run cooler than LED or HPS lights, you can still duct out the heat to save even more. They have saved us significantly on HVAC & electrical loads, which is another way they put $$ back in our pockets. Then factor in the significant savings on bulb replacements, because HIP induction bulbs will last decades! Every detail in design has been well thought out for over twenty years, before being ready to release to market. Even how the bulb is vertical to help give it the huge 10×10 footprint and is what they call “dynamic”, which means it spins to help evenly distribute the plasma and also cools the fixture through 4” ports at the same time. This technology is light years ahead of the competition!! Pardon the pun, but I haven’t seen any other lamp come close to these plasmas and I’ve been growing cannabis close to 20 years now. It’s like having the sun on command!
The ROI, not even counting the grows under them, would be in about 2.5 years from energy efficiency and zero bulb replacement. If one counted their grows under them, the ROI could easily be in as little as one or two harvests!!
These plasma lights are far more environmentally friendly than any other light I’ve seen, especially LED. LED lighting manufacturers try & claim how environmentally friendly they are through energy consumption, but these fixtures contain lots of heavy metals & VOC’s that are harmful to our environment when they get into the landfills & because of how fast LED bulbs degrade in their PAR spectrum, that is exactly where they are headed within a couple years, since one doesn’t even have the option to change bulbs in a LED fixture. Not that one would want to change hundreds of bulbs per fixture, when a plasma bulb can last decades & are environmentally friendly when they do get broken.
